Light for life

Team Members: Bianca Abad (Architect), Jayati C. (High-performance building consultant)

About the Project: Puerto Rico is highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, particularly in coastal areas exposed to strong winds and storm surges. Buildings in such hazard-prone zones must be resilient, capable of withstanding extreme weather while guiding wind loads efficiently. To address this, a curved, thin-shell concrete structure with biomimetic extrusions was designed, informed by climatic analysis, CFD simulations, and solar radiation studies to optimize both structural performance and environmental responsiveness.
